So I am sure everyone around these parts knows of Netflix and some even use this great service.
Did you know you can also stream Movies and TV show right from their website? It works pretty good. I have been able to watch quite a few good British comedy's that otherwise I would not have seen. (Coupling for the Win, if you like sagacious British humor.) With that said, I have enjoyed being able to watch a lot of older Movies and Tv shows this way. The only downside as of yet, is that they only have a Windows Only client to watch these movies. While not a big deal for me, others that might only have Mac's, this makes for a harder use.
Supposedly they are working on the Mac deal, and it's mainly a DRM issue. (surprise)
My one gripe about the watch it now service is that you have to be tied to your computer. I could be like Ryan and have computer in my bedroom to use as a media center. Alas, we are down to four computers in the house now, and three of them are Mac's, again fix the DRM thing and I would be golden.
Then today I see this article "http://gizmodo.com/389698/first-netflix-streaming-box-review-100-and-unlimited-downloads" and I have to think. I think Netflix just might have trumped Apple in their quest for your TV. For a one time charge of 99 bucks plus the 10 bucks a month I already pay Netflix, they will send me a box that will allow me to watch their service on any tv I hook it up to and can get a good high speed internet connection into it. This is the bees Knees baby.
Sure you can do this with the Apple TV, but it will cost at least $199 and then you have to pay for most of the content. I give Apple enough of my money already.
I know its only 480i and P right now. However they have HD in the works, and it will run over the same box just needs a firmware upgrade.
Now if I only lived in Shelton and had that glass thingy they call fiber, at my house.
Now tell me if you would even consider such a box?

however, we DO watch most of our movies on the lappy in bed.
i LOVE that it is not an "additional fee".
these guys are going to destroy the appleTV... but i think apple TV needed to happen first. it paved the way.
